Two postdocs for the DARPA BOLT project

The Computer Science Institute of the University of Le Mans (LIUM) has openings for two postdoc positions in the field of Statistical Machine Translation. The successful candidate will work on the DARPA Broad Operational Language Translation (BOLT) project in collaboration with IBM TJ Watson Research center and other leading research centers in the USA and Europe. One of the goals of this project is to significantly advance performance of statistical machine translation of Arabic and Chinese text and speech.

One Postdoc for the European Matecat project

The Computer Science Institute of the University of Le Mans (LIUM) has an opening for a postdoc position in the field of Statistical Machine Translation. The successful candidate will work on a project on Machine Translation Enhanced Computer Assisted Translation (Matecat) , funded by the European Commission. Computer assisted translation tools are currently the dominant technology in the translation and localization market. Recent achievements by the statistical MT approach have raised new expectations in the translation industry. So far, statistical MT has focused on providing ready-to-use translations, rather than outputs that minimize the effort of a human translator. The goal of the Matecat project is to effectively integrate statistical MT within the translation workflow, to make MT aware of its use, to self-tune to the task, to learn from the user feedback, and to be informative. We are looking for an excellent candidate with proven experience in the fields of statistical machine translation, NLP or machine learning. Knowledge of Moses is an advantage.
